MEMPHIS CONTRA  DANCERS                      

 

The MEMPHIS CONTRA DANCERS meet every first, third and fifth Friday in the Fellowship Hall of Idlewild Presbyterian Church at 1750 Union Ave. in MIdtown Memphis. The dances begin promptly at 7:30 PM and end by 10:00 PM. Usually there is a learner's Session at 7:00 PM before the dance.

ALL ARE WELCOME. COME SINGLY, in COUPLES or in GROUPS

BEGINNERS ARE WELCOME

ALL DANCES ARE TAUGHT AND CALLED

      NO COSTUMES ARE INVOLVED.

THERE IS NO ADMISSION FEE, BUT OUR WONDERFUL BAND PLAYS FOR TIPS ONLY, AND WE REQUEST THAT EVERYONE CONTRIBUTE.

We dance regularly Celtic tones of REEL McCOY with Joel Kaserman on                                               hammered dulcimer, Ritchie Schuman on fiddle and banjo,  Cheryl Parker                                            on concertina, Jim Turpin on guitar, and Harry Johnson on his array of                                     percussion instruments and harmonicas.
